General Access to the Faculty of Sciences' first Cycle Programmes (Graduate Degrees and Integrated Master Courses)

 Foreign students who wish to apply for First Cycle Programmes at FCUL must comply with the same entrance requirements as those required for Portuguese students:

  1. Hold a Certificate confirming the approval in a secondary education course or legally equivalent foreign education;
    Holders of foreign certificates should request their equivalence to the 12th grade at a secondary educational institutional in Portugal with pedagogic autonomy.
  2. Having completed the access exams required for the programme he/she is applying to with a final mark equal to or greater than the minimum mark;
    For students holding a Certificate confirming the aprroval in a non-Portuguese legally equivalent secondary education course, the admission exams may be replaced by final exams on specific subjects of those courses (article 20-A of Decree-Law no. 296-A/87, dated September 25th and according to its updated version by decree-Law no. 90/2008, dated May 30th).
  3. Having an application mark equal to or greater than the minimum mark defined for the programme he/she intends to apply.

Transference and Programme changing

Any student who has been registered in an international higher education institution can ask to be transferred to FCUL.
These students must fulfill the following conditions:

  1. Have attended higher education for at least a year;
  2. Have passed at least 50% of the subjects each academic year.

 

How to apply
Applications are made online to the Faculty of Sciences during the following periods:

  • Normal period: 16th July - 16th August;
  • Exceptional period: 15th November - 15th December.

The students may also ask for the equivalence of grades for admission to higher education they obtained on their home country. For more information, please check the Directorate-General for Innovation and Curricular Development (DGES).
 

Necessary documents:

  • Certificate of the subjects; *
  • ID or passport (photocopy);
  • Study programme of the course, including programmes and number of hours of the subjects completed.*
  • Certificate of registration in an higher education course; *

* These documents must be verified by the Portuguese Consulate of the applicant’s country of origin.

Special Contests for Students with specific qualifications

  • The + 23 years old regime offers the possibility of access for students who are older than 23 years old. The application period occurs annually betweeen February and April and the process is directly sumbitted to the Academic Department of the Rectorate of the University of Lisbon.

  • Graduated Students who hold a bachelor or a higher education diploma. The number of vacancies is fixed anually every year. The application period occurs annually between July and August and the process is submitted to FCUL's Academic Unit.
