The World Research and Innovation Congress Oceans is an event focused on international collaboration, funding for research and supporting research networks and excellence. This is the event that will bring together the global scientific marine community, funding agencies, policy makers, NGOs and stakeholders to discuss the key issues facing oceans research today.
Day one – Programme
International collaboration is fundamental to oceans research, alongside trans-regional networks, ocean partnerships and ocean clusters, all of which will be discussed in depth in order to promote further collaboration. Hear what policy makers, researchers, organisations and funding agencies have to say about global policy, collaboration and research and funding.
Topical sessions will address:
- 'Strengthening the science-policy interface for ocean sustainability'
- 'Fisheries – Global vs Europe'
- 'Clustering for collaboration'
- 'Funding marine research'
The day will conclude with an overview of Horizon 2020 followed by a roundtable discussion with an array of funding organisations including Euresearch, Marie Curie Actions and Eureka.There will then be a poster session and drinks reception providing further networking opportunities.
Day two – Programme
You will have the opportunity to hear about and discuss the latest oceans research and innovation projects. Topics will range from conservation, acidification and biodiversity loss to sustainability and innovation through green energy.
Presentations will include:
- 'Biodiversity loss: what is to be done'
- 'Marine ecosystems'
- 'Environmental support for maritime operations'
- 'Drivers of climate change effects in the oceans'
- 'Extremophiles and industry'
